GTA is born: a new step in port logistics for finished vehicles
Livorno, 25th June 2026
VLV begins a new phase in its growth journey. The Arcese, Conti and Cosulich families are strengthening their collaboration in the world of Finished Vehicle Logistics (FVL) through an operational reorganization that has led to the foundation of GTA, a new operating company dedicated to the development of a national system for port logistics for finished vehicles.
GTA thus becomes the instrument through which the investments launched by XCA in Il Faldo and in the Port of Livorno, a historic port for the Arcese and Conti families, can be consolidated. GTA is also preparing to incorporate VLV, with the aim of positioning itself as a national player in FVL port logistics.
The birth of GTA is part of a consolidation process that began in 2025, when XCA strengthened its presence in the finished vehicle segment through Il Faldo, the historic compound in Collesalvetti and one of the most extensive automotive logistics facilities in Europe. The platform offers large operational areas, internal rail connections and services dedicated to the storage, preparation, handling and distribution of vehicles.
Within this path, Vado Ligure is also taking on an increasingly important role. The Ligurian platform, already strategic for finished vehicle logistics, now fully enters a broader system capable of connecting ports, compounds, rail services, national distribution and high value operational solutions.
Vado Ligure, Livorno, Civitavecchia, Gioia Tauro and Ravenna are today the main entry platforms that GTA and its shareholders intend to offer to manufacturers, with particular attention to Chinese and Asian brands that are reshaping their automotive flows towards Europe.
The strengthening of the network also passes through the increasingly consolidated collaboration with Automar, one of Italy’s leading operators in FVL logistics.
The agreement, launched in 2025, had already enabled MG, part of SAIC Group, to identify an efficient logistics solution through the Automar Terminal in Civitavecchia.
Today, this collaboration is evolving with the launch of the new rail service between Gioia Tauro, another Automar platform, and Il Faldo.
The objective is to ease congestion on arrivals at Civitavecchia, Livorno and Vado Ligure, offering flows coming mainly from the Far East a competitive landing point and an intermodal system capable of rapidly moving vehicles towards Northern Italy, also thanks to the availability and collaboration of MIR.
“The birth of GTA represents an important step in the growth path that began with Il Faldo and with the strengthening of the XCA network,” says Marco Donati, General Manager of COSCOS, a joint venture of Fratelli Cosulich Group. “The market is changing rapidly: Asian manufacturers are looking for integrated, flexible and reliable solutions, capable of accompanying each vehicle from the port to the distribution network. Our objective is to offer a national platform that brings together port, compound, rail and final distribution within a single operational vision.”
“This operation stems from the desire to contribute to the construction of a new industrial system, capable of providing concrete answers to major emerging international automotive players,” comments Augusto Cosulich, President of Fratelli Cosulich Group. “Finished vehicle logistics requires vision, infrastructure, expertise and a strong ability to collaborate. With GTA, we are bringing together family, port and operational experiences with deep roots, while looking decisively towards new global flows.”
With GTA, XCA and Fratelli Cosulich are proposing to the market a national logistics model built on complementary platforms, intermodal connections and strong specialization in the FVL segment. A system designed to support the transformation of international automotive flows and offer global manufacturers a concrete, integrated and scalable response in Italy.
