The launching ceremony of Anna Cosulich marked an important moment in the life of the vessel and in the ongoing evolution of Fratelli Cosulich’s bunker fleet.
Held at the Taizhou Maple Leaf Shipyard (China), and shared with partners, stakeholders and the project team, the event celebrated the transition of the vessel from construction to her first encounter with the water, marking a symbolic step in her journey toward operational readiness.
The ceremony was honoured by Ms. Giovanna Cibin, Managing Director of Express Global Hong Kong, who served as the godmother of Anna Cosulich. With the traditional cutting of the ceremonial ribbon, she officially released the vessel into the water, a proud and meaningful moment reflecting the collective commitment and expertise behind the project.
Anna Cosulich is the first of four sister vessels in the new generation of methanol-ready IMO II bunker tankers for Cosulich Marine Energy, developed and operated as part of the Group’s fleet expansion programme.
Her launch represents a key milestone in strengthening Fratelli Cosulich’s in-house capabilities and in supporting the maritime industry’s growing demand for alternative marine fuels. As with the other bunker vessels in the Group’s fleet, Anna Cosulich carries a name deeply rooted in the history and values of the Cosulich family; a tradition that reflects the Group’s connection to its origins and its belief that growth and continuity are built on strong human foundations.
Designed with a strong focus on safety, operational efficiency and future fuel readiness, the vessel will be fitted with a MarineLINE® cargo tank coating. This high-performance solution provides enhanced protection for demanding chemical cargoes, including methanol, while enabling safe, reliable and efficient methanol bunkering operations in line with evolving regulatory and technical requirements.
From the earliest design stages, this vessel has been conceived as a methanol-ready bunker tanker, with key systems and arrangements engineered to facilitate a future transition to methanol operations. This approach ensures the vessel is fully positioned to support the next phase of alternative fuel deployment.
As the first vessel of this four-ship series to be launched, Anna Cosulich sets the technical and operational benchmark for the remaining sister vessels, reaffirming Fratelli Cosulich’s long-term commitment to investing in future-ready tonnage and delivering sustainable bunkering solutions to the global maritime industry.
