The fourth annual Auckland Captain’s Lunch brought together captains, agents and industry partners for an afternoon dedicated to the relationships that drive the South Pacific yachting community. Set along Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour and hosted by Rivergate Marina and Shipyard Australia, with the support of Pantaenius Insurance Australia and Catalano Shipping Services Aotearoa, the event welcomed more than 30 captains at the Park Hyatt’s Onemata restaurant in a relaxed yet refined setting.

As one of New Zealand’s leading yacht agencies, Agents by Catalano plays a key role in supporting vessels operating across the South Pacific, providing services ranging from itinerary planning and charter permits to provisioning, logistics and full crew support. The Captain’s Lunch reflects the collaborative approach that defines the region, bringing together key stakeholders to strengthen connections and share operational insights.

Rivergate’s annual Captains Long Lunch in Auckland is a fantastic chance to reconnect with captains—looking back on the season and ahead to what’s coming. We share the same goal: ensuring every vessel, captain, and crew feel supported and receive our gratitude for visiting”, said Duthie Lidgard, Managing Director of CSS NZ.

Superyachting in the South Pacific offers unique opportunities but also presents logistical complexities, with destinations spanning from Fiji to French Polynesia and the Solomon Islands. In this context, strong local networks and trusted partners are essential to ensure smooth operations and high service standards.

Events such as the Captain’s Lunch create valuable moments for dialogue, allowing captains and industry professionals to exchange experiences, compare itineraries and reinforce a sense of community across the region. “New Zealand continues to stand out as one of the best regions to operate in, and events like the Auckland Captains Lunch are a great opportunity to strengthen industry relationships and enjoy time ashore with good food and great company”  said Wade, MY Teleos.

New Zealand remains a key destination and operational hub for superyachts, combining advanced infrastructure, diverse cruising grounds and a strong culture of hospitality. As a seasonal base, Auckland represents a strategic gateway to the wider South Pacific, and initiatives like the Captain’s Lunch continue to strengthen the relationships that make these journeys possible.
