On September 29, the International Propeller Club – Port of Genoa opened its new season of meetings with an evening dedicated to a subject that is becoming increasingly relevant for shipping: how changing weather patterns are affecting navigation, and how the industry can respond.Held at the Hotel Bristol Palace in Genoa, the evening brought together Fratelli Cosulich Group Chairman Augusto Cosulich and the Navimeteo team, led by CEO Gianfranco Meggiorin and including Alessandro Casarino, Lucia De Rosa, Daniele Gallo and Kevin Missarelli.

The discussion moved from changing weather patterns in the Mediterranean and severe thunderstorms to nowcasting, route planning and the growing role of data in maritime operations. Different topics, but one common point: having more information is not enough. What matters is knowing how to read it and when to act. This is where Navimeteo’s expertise becomes particularly relevant. Forecasting, real-time monitoring and digital tools can help crews and operators anticipate risk, but technology still needs experience and human judgement to turn data into useful decisions.   Since joining the Cosulich Group, Navimeteo has brought this specialised knowledge into a much broader maritime environment. For the Group, that means new services, but also new ways to connect technology, operational experience and safety across its activities.

Closing the evening, Augusto Cosulich returned precisely to this point. The Group’s investment in Navimeteo was driven not only by the opportunity to expand its services, but by the quality of its people and by the very concrete role meteorology can play in preventing accidents and protecting lives at sea.

As conditions at sea become harder to predict, this kind of expertise will matter even more. Understanding change, anticipating risk and helping people make better decisions: this is where Navimeteo and the Group can build together.
