In order to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions, it is necessary to make an effort, deploying all available technologies and fuels. Lorma Logistic, our company active in the trucking industry, firmly believes that through its own program on ecological transition, from this year it intends to promote and further intensify the use of HVO biofuels, gradually reducing the use of fossil fuels.
Thanks to an agreement with Eni, 30% of the company's industrial vehicles will be fueled with HVOlution biofuel produced by Eni Sustainable Mobility, an initiative that already supports the use of 10 vehicles powered by LNG (Liquified Natural Gas). HVOlution is the first diesel produced using 100% renewable raw materials, specifically waste biomass that, instead of being disposed of, is used to produce biofuels, reducing environmental impact and promoting a model that ensures ever more complete sustainability.
Among the main advantages of HVOlution is the direct use of existing Diesel engines (both Euro 5 and Euro 6), without the need for modifications or adaptations, as the product can be mixed in any percentage with fossil diesel. Furthermore, the biofuel reduces CO2 "from well to wheel" emissions by about 90%, with lower fuel and urea consumption and, last but not least, a significant reduction in vehicle maintenance costs.
In 2022, our Group had already set out a path to integrate both environmental and social aspects into our business strategies, identifying several objectives in the ESG Plan disclosed in the Annual Report 2022.
Mitigating the emissions impact of Lorma's fleet of industrial vehicles represents a crucial milestone in the entire Group's decarbonization plan, representing one of the initiatives we are implementing to reduce the emissions impact in terms of Scope 1 (direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by the company).
