“Genova nel Mondo, Il Mondo a Genova” brings global dialogue to the city
The second edition of “Genova nel Mondo, Il Mondo a Genova” took place on July 8 at Palazzo Ducale, with an evening event at Teatro Carlo Felice.
Promoted by the Consular Corps of Genoa, the initiative brought together institutions, companies, consular communities, citizens and local stakeholders, confirming the city’s strong international vocation and its role as a meeting point between cultures, markets and territories.
The conference offered a broad reflection on the transformations shaping the current international landscape, from geopolitical tensions and new economic balances to global trade, the security of maritime routes and the need to strengthen cooperation between countries. Our President Augusto Cosulich, Dean of the Consular Corps of Genoa, opened the proceedings together with representatives of the city, the region and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.His participation reflected not only his role within the Consular Corps, but also the Cosulich Group’s close connection with Genoa and with the themes at the heart of the event: maritime trade, logistics and the ability to build bridges between markets, institutions and cultures.
Furthermore, as our President highlighted, this role is not merely an institutional function: it represents a responsibility towards the city. The Consular Corps can be seen as a true toolbox: each consular representation brings specific expertise, relationships and knowledge that can be made available to citizens and, more broadly, to the city itself, helping to build new international connections capable of creating opportunities and concrete results.
Genoa is the second Italian city in terms of the number of consular representations. A fact that clearly reflects its international vocation. Today, this represents a challenge, but also a great opportunity. Becoming a true gateway to Europe means being able to look ahead while, at the same time, investing in the local area.
Touggourt the event, speakers offered complementary perspectives, ranging from institutions and politics to international industry, with contributions from companies such as Ansaldo Energia, as well as the maritime sector.The contribution of Stefano Messina was also significant, highlighting the need to direct the revenues generated through the EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime schemes towards investments in the Blue Economy, creating incentives to support the energy transition and make lower-emission fuels increasingly competitive.
The day ended at Teatro Carlo Felice with a multicultural performance dedicated to the different communities represented by the Consular Corps, reinforcing the spirit of the initiative: Genoa as a city open to the world, able to bring together institutions, businesses, communities and citizens through dialogue and shared culture.
