We are Saving Lives: Augusto Cosulich’s intervention

On Wednesday 8 March 2023, at the Museo delle Culture (MUDEC) in Milan, Augusto Cosulich took part in the charity event “Saving Lives”.

The occasion, presented by Yuriy Ryzhenkov, CEO of the Metinvest Group, was an opportunity not only to thank the Italian partners for their strong support during the conflict, but also to gather further assistance and plan for the future.

The "Saving Lives" initiatives, together with the Do it Together Foundation, were created and maintained by the Metinvest Group in cooperation with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, which was established at the beginning of the Russian military invasion of Ukraine with the aim of providing ongoing assistance to the Ukrainian people.

The event also included “The profile of Europe after the integration with Ukraine” debate, in which Augusto Cosulich took part. The President of the Fratelli Cosulich Group emphasised his pride today in being part of the steel industry, and his idea that “sanctions only are not enough, Ukraine should be helped with heart”.  Since February 2022, the Cosulich Group and the Metinvest Group have been working together on possible new lines from Mariupol.

The debate was an opportunity to exchange ideas about the future of the Ukrainian industry, where, despite the dramatic situation, steel production has continued to operate at 60-65%.  Metinvest, through its European base in Genoa, is planning to develop  new facilities in Italy in the future to strengthen its bonds with Ukraine.
