Gianfranco Meggiorin

Gianfranco Meggiorin is the Founder and Operational Coordinator of Navimeteo, a leading provider of marine weather forecasting and oceanographic consultancy services.

With over three decades of experience in the maritime industry, he is widely recognized for his deep expertise in marine meteorology, navigation, and operational decision support at sea.

He began his career as a sailing instructor and captain, gaining extensive hands-on experience through Atlantic crossings and Mediterranean cruising. In 1990, following an operational experience at MeteoMer (France), he founded Meteo Mursia Portofino, the first private marine weather service in Italy dedicated to supporting mariners throughout the Mediterranean. Building on this pioneering initiative, he went on to establish Navimeteo in 2000, expanding its operations from the Mediterranean to a global scale and diversifying its services to meet the evolving needs of the yachting, shipping, and maritime works sectors.

Gianfranco Meggiorin consistently emphasizes the importance and extraordinary value of the Navimeteo Team, a close-knit group of highly skilled professionals who dedicate their passion and experience to understanding marine weather and enhancing the safety of maritime operations.

Alongside his role at Navimeteo, Gianfranco is actively involved in the Monaco Weather Lab, an ambitious project developed by La Belle Classe Academy of the Yacht Club de Monaco, focused on marine weather, oceanography, climatology, and safety at sea.
